This hybrid dance, video, and garment-based performance brought 11 movers together to embody North American masculine archetypes. Through interviews, experiments, and movement workshops, Lu Donovan and I created a performance that worked to expand traditional masculinity into a practice of gentleness and connection. We invited the high school hunk, 80s rockstars, frequenters of gay clubs and coffee shops, memories of boyhood, and ragged denim desires to play together, building options through which embodied manhood can thrive.
